Published: 04 June 2018

HPCC held it's first Walking Festival on 2nd June 2018 to tie in with Ramblers UK National Walking Week. This was a free event held by the Community Council for the benefit of the community. Participants walked from Hirwaun Village Hall along the old mineral line known as the Arcway to Penderyn Community Centre. From there, they walked to Sgwd yr Eira waterfalls. Hirwaun Village Hall and Penderyn Community Centre were both used a stop off points for refreshments where displays were held by the TIPical Valley Project and Penaluna's Famous Fish and Chips on their environmental projects. Penaluna's also sponsored the event by providing a free bottle of water for every participant. The walk itself was lead by Community Cllrs in conjunction with the South Wales Community Mountain Rangers.
