ROADSHOW:

Cllr Richard Jones, Chair of Hirwaun and Penderyn Community Council joined Beth Winter MP and Cllr Graham Thomas to visit Penderyn Distillery. They met with Stephen Davies the Chief Executive at Penderyn Distillery who shared the history of the distillery and their progress to date.

The company has recently filled it’s GI (Geographical Indicator) documentation, this process is a sign used on products that have a specific geographical origin and possess qualities or a reputation that are due to that origin. On top of that, they also announced in May the opening of a second distillery in Llandudno opening up the Penderyn brand to other areas in Wales.
Cllr Jones said “It was great to visit the distillery today, I’d like to thank Beth Winter MP for inviting the Community Council to attend. It shows what can happen when all layers of government work together for our community. The visit was really interesting, it was great to see the passion for not only their product and business model but also the local community. Penderyn Distillery is a credit to the community, and their continued success will help to raise the profile of Penderyn putting it on the map as the home of Welsh whiskey.”

Cllr Richard Jones also joined Beth Winter MP on a walk around the village of Hirwaun meeting businesses and residents.

If you’re a local business or group and you’d like to know more about the Community Council and what we do please get in touch.
