Community Youth Representative
Published: 02 April 2024
Hello, I am Caitlyn Kochalski, the
new Community Youth Representative for Hirwaun Ward for Hirwaun & Penderyn
Community Council. I wanted to become a Youth Representative for my community
as I do litter picking for my community which I love. I am very passionate about
keeping the village I live in clean and tidy. I started litter picking through
lockdown and have carried on since. I also had an award from the High Sheriff
for good community work and litter picking. I am a very hardworking young
person and I enjoy doing things for the community. I attend monthly litter picks in the
community and I have helped deliver summer activities and events, such as seed
bombing which was held in Hirwaun village hall. I enjoy talking to people and young
people in my community and helping out at community activities.
Last summer I completed my Gold Duke
of Edinburgh award and went to Buckingham Palace, which was a great experience
and inspired me to work hard on what I want to achieve now and in the future. I’m
a leader at the 12th Hirwaun Aberdare Girl Guiding unit which I
enjoy. I like to see the girls becoming more confident in themselves and
learning new skills, in a social environment. I’m currently doing a Level 3
Teaching Assistant qualification and hope to work within a school setting in
the future.
I was really pleased when I was accepted
as a Community Youth Representative for Hirwaun. I am willing to learn and
looking forward to talking to local young people about the village that we live
in.
